小腸上接胃幽門,下接盲腸,分為十二指腸、空腸、回腸,主要通過胰液、膽汁和小腸液的化學性消化以及小腸運動的機械系消化,將營養物質最后分解為可吸收的小分子物質,并在小腸被吸收入血液和淋巴循環。小腸絨毛的存在加大了小腸養分吸收的表面積,一旦受損則養分吸收效率大大降低。
